"Here are chronicled the adventures of the crew of the Constellation-class cruiser Kao Hsiung
at the dawn of the 24th century of man.
"Assigned to fringes of Federation space, she carries the presence of the Federation to remote outposts
and undiscovered countries."
NEWEST CONSTELLATION IN THE SKY
Stardate: 8262.5
In ceremony earlier today at Starfleet's San Francisco Shipyards, the newest addition to the fleet was declared
spaceworthy. USS Kao Hsiung, NCC-2707, is the latest Constellation-class cruiser to enter
service and joins her sister ships Constellation and Hathaway already deployed with the fleet.
Kao Hsiung is named in honor of the Battle of Kao Hsiung, a bloody six-week campaign from Earth's mid-21st
century, in which 23,000 people are estimated to have perished. It stands as the bloodiest amphibious assault in human
history.
The vessels crew, in stark contrast to her somber moniker, is young and anxious to begin thier mission.
A commissioning ceremony is schedualed for later this month, as soon as last minute crew assignments are completed.
From then she will take up position along the Romulan Neutral Zone.
